Hajia Sani articulated the document for the creation of Digital Media Department of Voice of Nigeria and became its pioneer Director in 2019, having founded and steered VON’s Online Unit since 2006. To date, she serves as Chairperson of VON Digital Transformation-Technical Working Group, DT-TWG and Co-ordinator of the Nigerian Start-Up Act Project, VON Chapter.
A Broadcast and Web Contents Journalist with nearly thirty-five years experience, Ms. Sani has very deep interest in and passion for propelling digital innovations, media-enhancing technology applications and tools, creative socio-economic story-telling, graphics and digital audio-visual content productions, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
‘Madam Digital’ as she is fondly called, Ms. Sani holds a Masters Degree in Public Administration (2002), from the University of Ilorin in Kwara State, from where she also obtained her BA (Hons) Performing Arts in 1990, a KOICA Executive Course Graduand (2021) and a Member of the Advisory Board of Mass Communications Department of Nile University of Nigeria until 2023.
She is a Fellow of the Nigerian School on Internet Governance (2021), Fellow of the Institute of Corporate Administration (2016) and a participant of the Policy, Strategy and Leadership Course-PSLC10 (2013), as well as Winner of the Nigerian Media Merit Award-NMMA Radio Production of the Year Award-2001. She is due to commence her Doctorate Degree.
An astute professional with multi- cultural work background, Ms. Sani is a widely-travelled reader, researcher and trainer who affiliates with numerous global Internet and Media organisations including the International Press Institute; World Association of News Publishers-WAN/ IFRA; global, regional and national Internet Societies; the Nigerian Union of Journalists; the Society of Nigerian
Broadcasters and a two-term Vice President-North of the Nigerian Guild of Editors. She remains a vocal advocate of professionalism and best practice ethical standards, development Journalism, freedom of expression, progressive socio-economic development, a believer in the use of creativity and media platforms for good, justice and equity for all, as well as in the empowerment of women for sustainable national growth.
Ms. Sani enjoys reading, listening to cultural music, watching movies, as well as creative digital contents creation, analysis and design.
